CUHK LAW Alumni Online Seminar – ‘Compliance – Basics and Latest Developments’ by Prof. Thomas Maria Kruessmann

The seminar will offer a concise overview of the most important strands of the compliance movement, including current debates on ESG reporting and ethical sourcing / supply chain sustainability. The seminar will also cover calls for a more holistic understanding of governance, risk management and compliance and discuss the merits of this so-called GRC approach.

About the speakers:

Prof. Kruessmann is a German-qualified lawyer with extensive legal practice, now serving as senior expert counsel at Lansky Ganzger + partner in Vienna (Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas Krüßmann LL.M. – Lansky) and member of the advisory board at Urus Advisory in Moscow (Urus Advisory). In addition, he is chair of the Supervisory Board of Higher School of Jurisprudence and Administration / Higher School of Economics in Moscow. He is scholarly consultant to the LL.M. programme “International corporate compliance and business ethics” and the management training course “Master in Compliance”. His recent publications include “Internal Investigations in Compliance Matters: What Role for Professional Legal Privilege in Europe?” (European Business Law Review 2021) and “The Failure of Transnational Anti-Corruption Law: Civil Law Strategies Reconsidered” (forthcoming in “The Transnationalization of Anti-Corruption Law” with Routledge, May 2021). In the current spring term, Prof. Kruessmann teaches “Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC)” at New Vision University in Tbilisi (Georgia).

The Law Society of Hong Kong has awarded this seminar 1.5 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
