Seminar on “All you ever wanted to know about arbitration but were too afraid to ask!”

7 April, 2021

Over 180 participants attended an inspiring online seminar on 7 April 2021 delivered by Mr. Paul Mitchard QC, an international arbitrator with over 35 years of experience in the legal profession. Mr. Mitchard referenced the biblical ‘split the baby’ decision by King Solomon to cover many aspects of arbitration, from its history and definition to its characteristics and requirements, noting that Solomon could in many respects be considered an arbitrator applying most modern definitions and his procedure and arbitral award compatible with what might have been acceptable practice at the time. The seminar also considered the present-day applications of, and increase in, international commercial arbitration across the globe, underpinned by treaties, such as the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
