CUHK Vis Team wins the Third Best Team award and the Best Individual Oralist award in the Hong Kong Pre-moot 2018

The 5th Hong Kong Pre-moot co-organised by CUHK Faculty of Law and The Chinese Initiative on International Law, sponsored by Fangda Partners was held on 9-10 March 2018 at CUHK Graduate Law Centre. The Pre-Moot aimed to give participating teams an opportunity to strengthen their arguments before the Vis (East) Moot in Hong Kong and the Vis Moot in Vienna.

This year, the Pre-Moot included participants from 14 universities around the world including:

Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg (Germany), China-EU School of Law (China), City University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong), Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), Kathmandu School of Law (Nepal), NALSAR University of Law (India), National Law University, Delhi (India), National Research University Higher School of Economics (Moscow campus) (Russia), Peking University (China), The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (India), University of Bucharest (Romania), University of Dagon, Myanmar (Burma), University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and Wuhan University (China).

On 9 March, the Pre-moot started with a demonstration session between CUHK and University of Bucharest. The demonstration session set the scene as teams enjoyed four rounds of practice on 10 March between different universities and before different arbitrators. After the competitive rounds of mooting, the CUHK Vis Team won the Third Best Team award, and Matthew Suen (LLB student) won the award for the Best Individual Oralist. The National Law University, Delhi won the Best Team award and Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg was the Second Best Team.
