CUHK LAW Team delivered excellent all-around performance in the 19th Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot

The CUHK LAW Team delivered an excellent all-around performance in the 19th Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis East Moot) completed virtually on 3 April 2022.

The competition involved some 140 law schools from around the world. The CUHK LAW Team was the only Hong Kong team to qualify for the elimination rounds of the moot. Team members Alan Sham and Elaine Ren who argued in every round in which the team competed, were each awarded an Honourable Mention (top 10%) for their advocacy. The team’s memorandum for the claimant was ranked as the third best memorandum of the 140 memoranda submitted for the claimant.

The CUHK LAW Team was coached by Prof. Peter RHODES and supported by former team members and now student coaches Kasper FAN (PCLL), Natalie TSE (LLB), Godfrey NG (LLB) and Sunny LIU (LLB). Team members were Chris LI (JD), Janice FUNG (LLB), Charlotte LO (JD), Holy NG (LLB), Bertha CHUI (JD), Ian LIU (LLB), Alan SHAM (PCLL), Cecilia LI (JD), Samuel CHAN (LLB), Atta CHIU (LLB) and Elaine REN (PCLL). CUHK LAW faculty member Mr. Paul MITCHARD QC was of great assistance to the team’s advocacy training.

Congratulations to the team for their excellent performance!
