Governance Structure

CUHK LAW is unitary in character combining both a faculty and a teaching department. The governance structure of the Faculty has been designed to suit the practical and operational needs of staff and students. The principal bodies governing the operations of the Faculty are set out below.

Advisory Board

The Faculty of Law receives strategic advice and guidance on its development and operation from distinguished representatives from the judicial, legal, educational and business communities. Membership of the Board from 1 February 2026 to 31 July 2027 is as follows:

Faculty Board

The Board of the Faculty is the main arm of Faculty governance. While membership of the Board is formally constituted according to the relevant Statute, the Faculty adopts a participative management style and encourages all academic staff and invited student representatives to attend Board meetings as observers. Terms of Reference
The Board of the Faculty of Law shall co-ordinate the activities within the Faculty and it shall be its function to consider and deal with the recommendations of Committees of the Faculty – on the content of courses for the degree or degrees; and on the details of syllabuses

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the executive arm of the Board of the Faculty of Law, and acts on behalf of the Board in routine and non-controversial matters. Another important function of the Board is to give advice to the Dean on all matters including planning and budget.
