Meet with CUHK LAW LLM Alumni on 29 Jan 2022 (Online)

CUHK LAW proudly invites all applicants to the LLM programmes to join an alumni sharing to benefit from the experience of CUHK LAW LLM alumni. Eight alumni of the LLM in International Economic Law, the LLM in Chinese Business Law, the LLM in Common Law and the LLM in Energy and Environmental Law will share their experience to help applicants get a better understanding of the CUHK LAW LLM programmes, the life of a student in Hong Kong and at CUHK LAW, and the different career options after taking the LLM. The event also aims to create ties between alumni and future students and to strengthen the existing CUHK LAW alumni network.

Alumni:

 LLM in Chinese Business Law 

Jessica Chai graduated from University of Exeter and completed LLB programme with honors. She was the recipient of CUHK Master of Laws Global Scholarship 2020/21 which gave her the invaluable opportunity to study LLM in Chinese Business Law. She is currently undertaking the UK Bar Vocational Studies Course at City, University of London. She aspires to become a international lawyer and intend to pursue a career in cross legal practice focusing on ADR and commercial law.

Felix Schiller graduated from the University of Fribourg Master of Law (MLaw) programme, then he worked for a law firm, a district court and the University of Zurich (UZH). Later he came to Hong Kong and obtained the LLM in Chinese Business Law from CUHK in 2018. In 2021, he received his doctorate in law (Dr. iur.) with honors (magna cum laude) from the University of Zurich (UZH). Currently he works as a legal counsel in the field of administrative, energy and environmental law. 

 

 LLM in Common Law

Jason Lim graduated from LLM in Common Law in 2019. He is a CPA with more than 20 years of experience in MNCs and start-ups. He is a member of CPA Australia, holds an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and a GMP graduate from Harvard Business School.

Huicheng Zhou obtained his first law degree from mainland China. After graduated from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, he obtained the LLM in Common Law from CUHK. Then he joined Linklaters as a legal assistant in 2018 and worked there for around two and a half year. During his time at Linklaters, he finished another LLM programme at UC Berkeley. Currently he’s working as an associate at Morgan Stanley.

 

 LLM in Energy and Environmental Law

Sijin Lai graduated from the LLM in Energy and Environmental Law in 2020. She has recently become a qualified lawyer in the mainland specializing in commercial and civil dispute resolution. Sijin is passionate about energy law and plans to further her study in this field. Apart from her professional life, she enjoys playing guitar and building Legos.

Yuqing Zhang had been traveling for two years’ after graduated from law school and passed the national judicial examination. During the journey, she deeply realized the deficiency of the current regulations on environmental protection and the importance of the energy security. So she applied for LLM  in Energy and Environmental Law in 2020. Under the guidance of the professors, she finds her passion and decide to devote herself to this area. Now she is working on the research of applying the dispute resolution mechanisms to the energy investments alongside the silk road with the purpose of creating a green BRI environment.

 

 LLM in International Economic Law

Jiang He graduated from the China University of Political Science and Law in 2020 with a LLB degree. He then obtained the LLM in International Economic Law at CUHK in 2021 and was placed on the Dean’s List. Now he works as a trainee at Ning Ren Law Firm, focusing on data compliance, funds and investment.

Wei Wei graduated from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in 2016 with a LLB and a B.E. degree. She had two years of in-house working experience before she joined the LLM in International Economic Law. After obtaining her LLM degree in 2020, she joined a big law firm based in Shanghai. Her practice mainly focuses on IPO, refinancing, investment and M&A.
