Property Law Seminar Series – ‘Equity and the Enforcement of Informal Land Contracts: Part II’ by Prof. Steven Gallagher, Prof. Alice Lee & Prof. Michael Lower (Online)

11 November, 2020

CUHK LAW hosted the Property Law Webinar ‘Equity and the Enforcement of Informal Land Contracts: Part II’ on 11 November 2020. It was delivered by Professor Steven Gallagher (CUHK LAW), Professor Alice Lee (Faculty of Law, HKU) and Professor Michael Lower (CUHK LAW). With over 300 registrations, this Webinar examined the potential to argue that a claim in proprietary estoppel or common intention constructive trust arises in the context of informal land contracts. It also considered the overlaps with, and differences between, the doctrine of part performance and the doctrines of proprietary estoppel and common intention constructive trust. It reflected on the recent decisions in Cheung Lai Mui v Cheung Wai Shing and Ha Lai Lei v Mang Wan Kwan.
