SIU, Consultant of Sit, Fung, Kwong & Shum and Ms. Winnie TAM, SC, JP, former Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association. Each of the speakers presented her own story, discussed professional highlights and advised on what they thought is important for young lawyers, male or female, when pursuing a legal career. One of the themes addressed by all the speakers was the significance of personal and professional mentors. The speakers agreed that good mentoring can be very important and how good mentors can make a real difference. Furthermore, the speakers also indicated that the willingness to take risks at certain points of a professional career is crucial to success and that one can normally be confident to be able to achieve much more than one might assume in the first place. The seminar attracted more than 150 participants including students, alumni, academics and practitioners from local and overseas. All of them were able to enjoy a very engaged and engaging Q&A session of more than 30 minutes which concluded the seminar.
