CUHK team competes with distinction and meets Hong Kong Secretary for Justice at the 26th Annual Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna

The 26th Annual Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot was held in Vienna, Austria from 11-18 April 2019. The competition involved some 2,500 law students representing 380 law schools from 87 countries, and was also attended by 1,300 lawyers, professional arbitrators and academics as judges.

The CUHK team qualified for the final rounds of the competition and were at the end of the competition ranked 16 out of 380 teams, an achievement of distinction. HUNG Vanessa Wai-yan (JD) argued in every round of the competition and was awarded an Honourable Mention (top 10%) for her advocacy.

At the closing ceremony of the Vis competition the team was honoured to have the chance to meet with Hong Kong’s Secretary for Justice, Ms. Teresa Cheng GBS,SC,JP. Ms. Cheng attended the Vis moot as one of the arbitrators for the moot final and made the announcement of the winning team.
