Posted on 2 October, 2018

Congratulations to the following two CUHK Law students who have their articles published in a leading international journal Trusts & Trustees (Volume 24, Issues 8, Oxford University Press).

PhD student Siyi Lin – Her article entitled “China’s new charity law: a new era of charitable trusts” examines China’s charitable trust industry and indicates the progress achieved by the new law. It also highlights the advantages of charitable trust as an efficient form to promote philanthropy, discusses unresolved problems and looks at future developments. Siyi is co-supervised by Professor Lutz-Christian WOLFF and Professor Steven GALLAGHER.

PCLL student Martin Hui – His article entitled “Triumph or tragedy? Hong Kong’s approach on illegality defence in civil claims after Patel v Mirza” discusses the adoption of the majority policy-based approach by Hong Kong due to the variation of illegality with an infinite possibility of actual matrixes. It also addresses the criticism of the policy-based approach with several refinements required. Martin graduated from the CUHK LLB Programme.
