Thesis Topic

Emerging Constitutional Freedoms and its Social Harmonisation in India, co-supervised by Professors Surabhi CHOPRA and Rehan ABEYRATNE.

Research Interests and Aims

Sumit is particularly interested in comparative constitutional law, comparative judicial review, social justice, privacy laws and intellectual property rights. With my thesis, I hope to determine the social basis of recognition of un-enumerated rights and the product of constitutional adjudication. That inquiry will inextricably point to the functional analysis of the judicial process i.e. the way the “rights” are read into or found to be inherent in elastic constitutional texts.
