Prof. Steven GALLAGHER was invited to give a seminar on “The Legal Issues in Acquiring, Maintaining and Disposing of Collections” organized by The Oriental Ceramics Society of Hong Kong on 8 April 2021.

In the seminar, Prof. Gallagher spoke about some of the legal issues that private collectors and museum institutions encounter at the different stages of building, maintaining and disposing of a collection. This included considerations of issues of authenticity and provenance and the recent innovations in technology such as block chain and non-fungible tokens to authenticate and create unique art.
