Prof. Eliza MIK spoke at the eBRAM Online Dispute Resolution Conference 2024

Prof. Eliza MIK delivered the closing remarks at the eBRAM inaugural Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Conference 2024 titled “Navigating through maelstroms – aboard ODR,” which took place on 3 May 2024.

The conference, which was attended by representatives of the Department of Justice as well as senior members of the legal profession, explored two key questions: (a) does the use of ODR help or harm the bottom line for legal practice and business; and (b) how far can AI technology be applied to arbitral award drafting and during the mediation process and still be regarded as acceptable, if at all? The event featured live demonstrations of the incredible capabilities of AI in transcribing and translating online proceedings.

In her closing remarks, Prof. Mik addressed the need for the cautious integration of generative AI capabilities in all those instances where issues of substantive law are at stake.
