Congratulations to Prof. Sandra MARCO COLINO on winning two Antitrust Writing Awards 2025. Her article “Antitrust’s Environmental Footprint: Redefining the Boundaries of Green Antitrust” (North Carolina Law Review) won the jury’s vote in the cross-border category, while her article “Reshaping EU Merger Control: from Harm Detection to Harm Control” (Journal of European Competition Law & Practice), co-written with CUHK LAW alumna Ms. Macy Chung, received the most readers’ votes in the mergers category.
The awards, given by Concurrences and George Washington University, recognise ‘writing, scholarship, originality, practical relevance, and the contribution [the articles] make to competition advocacy’. This year the winning works were selected from among over 1,300 submissions. The Board members were Ms. Cani Fernandez (President of the Spanish Competition Authority), Mr. Andrew Ferguson (Chair of the US Federal Trade Commission), Mr. Olivier Guersent (Director-General of the European Commission), Prof. Frédéric Jenny (Chairman of the OECD Competition Committee), Prof. William Kovacic (Professor at George Washington University and former FTC Chair), Ms. Laila Medina (Advocate General of the European Court of Justice), Dr. Mahmoud Momtaz (Chairman of the Egyptian Competition Authority) and Ms. Doris Tshepe (Commissioner of the South African Competition Commission).
The awards gala was held on 1 April 2025 at the Foreign Press Club in Washington D.C. Mr. Guersent and Prof. Roger Alford (Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the United States Department of Justice) presented Prof. Marco Colino with the awards.
