Prof. Jyh-An LEE was interviewed by the South China Morning Post on copyright issues associated with works generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The development of AI technologies has brought about new challenges to the existing copyright system. It is debatable whether AI can legally own its creation, whether AI-generated works are copyrightable, and to what extent AI can use copyrighted data owned by a third party in the machine learning process.
