‘Transforming Higher Education for the Digital Era: Designing Educational Experiences that are Feedback and Technology Rich’ – Public Lecture in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of CUHK

28 June 2023

On June 28, 2023, CUHK Law commemorated the 60th anniversary of CUHK with an online lecture on the Future of Legal Education. Professor Jeff Grabill, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Education at the University of Leeds, delivered an insightful talk on ‘Transforming Higher Education for the Digital Era.’

Drawing from his leadership experiences at Michigan State University and the University of Leeds, Professor Grabill emphasized the importance of creating intentional educational experiences centred around student learning and thriving.

Professor Grabill highlighted the principle of ‘digital by default’ as a guiding mantra for designing contemporary learning experiences. This notion of seamlessly integrating digital tools into education was further explored by an international panel of Law Deans who responded to Professor Grabill’s insights.

The Panel comprised: Professor Lidong Cai (Vice President of Jilin University); Professor Clair Gammage (Head of the Law School at the University of Exeter); Professor Dan Hunter (Executive Dean of the Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London); and Professor Pokpong Srisanit of Thamassat University in Thailand.

The event closed with a lively Q&A session. Clearly, the theme of the lecture struck a chord with participants.
