The 16th Annual Intellectual Property Conference and the pre-conference workshop, jointly organized by the Center for Legal Innovation and Digital Society (CLINDS) at CUHK LAW, Asia Innovation and IP Society (AIIPS), International Intangible Assets Institute, and KINECT LAW, were successfully held at the CUHK Graduate Law Centre from 25th to 27th July 2024. With an impressive turnout of over 200 attendees, this event served as a focal point for in-depth discussions and insightful reflections on various intellectual property (IP) matters related to artificial intelligence (AI), data governance, business strategies, and life sciences.
Distinguished scientists from Hong Kong such as Professors Mai Har Sham (Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President, CUHK), Dennis Lo (Direct of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences, CUHK), and Wen Jung Li (Vice-President, City University of Hong Kong), presented their cutting-edge research and shed light on the legal challenges associated with these topics during the pre-conference workshop.
The two-day conference commenced with a keynote speech delivered by Professor Matthias Leistner from Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) Munich, where he delved into the latest policy and legal debates surrounding AI and copyright. Esteemed scholars, practitioners, business leaders, and policymakers from Asia, Europe, and the United States also graced the event as speakers, sharing their expertise and insights.
