JURIS DOCTOR (JD)

ADMISSION TO THE LEGAL PROFESSION

The JD is a postgraduate law degree which potentially leads to admission into the legal profession.

HONG KONG

Graduates of the JD programme at CUHK who plan to enter the legal profession in Hong Kong will first need to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) programme. The PCLL is offered at three institutions in Hong Kong, including at the Faculty of Law of CUHK. Admission is by application.

OTHER COMMON LAW JURISDICTIONS

The JD programme may fulfill certain entry requirements for admission into the legal professions of other common law jurisdictions. However, entry requirements vary across jurisdictions and are subject to change from time to time. If you are interested in practicing law in jurisdictions other than Hong Kong, we suggest that you contact the professional bodies in those jurisdictions directly.
