Prof. Eliza MIK presented at the 2nd Workshop on Generative AI and Law in the International Conference on Machine Learning 2024

Prof. Eliza MIK presented at the 2nd Workshop on Generative AI and Law (GenLaw ’24), which took place as part of the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML ’24) in Vienna, Austria on 27 July 2024.

ICML is one of the most prestigious conferences on machine learning, with a low acceptance rate of 21.5%. Prof. Mik’ s paper titled “The Ground Truth about Legal Hallucinations” was accepted as part of the workshop proceedings and was followed by a poster presentation of the same name. This year’s workshop focused on the legal implications of Large Language Models, with special emphasis on training data curation, copyright and the regulation of LLMs. Prof. Mik’ s presentation focused on the problem of hallucinations, the tendency of LLMs to generate false or misleading statements, and the need for a domain-specific approach to this phenomenon in areas where the correctness of a statement may be a question of subjective opinion and expertise.
