Bennett is a Barrister with a broad civil practice specialising in property, trusts, construction and building related matters. Prior to being called to the Bar, he was a Judicial Assistant at the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal. He was also previously admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong upon completing his training at an international law firm.
He frequently handles and advises on land matters including conveyancing disputes, trust claims, adverse possession, landlord & tenant, land valuation, mortgagee actions, New Territories land and building management disputes. He also acts in trust disputes involving complex tracing exercises, off-shore family trusts, probate, fiduciaries, companies and insolvency issues. He has a developing construction practice and is engaged in disputes involving both public and private projects.
Bennett holds lectureship positions at various local law schools, teaching various property and commercial related subjects. He is a member of the Hong Kong Bar Association’s various sub-committees, including the Standing Committee on Legal Education.
Bennett has published widely in the areas of trust and land law and is cited in Hong Kong and beyond, including notably in the leading practitioner’s text, Snell’s Equity. He is also often invited to give CPD seminars.
He is an HKMAAL accredited mediator.
