This presentation explores the practical use of Research Data Management (RDM) principles in legal research through a case study about developing a Hong Kong sentencing database. It explains how the project uses CUHK’s institutional RDM framework, including a Data Management Plan (DMP) to manage the entire data lifecycle — from coding judicial documents into an anonymized dataset to its long-term storage. The presentation highlights the importance of the CUHK Research Data Repository in securely storing the dataset and ensuring compliance with the University’s standards.
