Article 128 of the Basic Law states that “the Hong Kong Government shall provide conditions and take measures to maintain the status of Hong Kong as a centre of international and regional aviation”. This audacious phrase, which is commonly interpreted as meaning an “international aviation hub,” appears regularly in both government policy documents and the media. This conference aims to examine the phrase and discuss how to maintain Hong Kong’s status as international aviation hub with key stakeholders.
