Ian Grenville Cross GBS, SBS, SC joined the Attorney General’s Chambers of Hong Kong as Crown Counsel in 1978. He served as the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions of Hong Kong from 1990 to 1997, and as the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Hong Kong SAR from 1997 to 2009. A graduate in law of the University of Southampton, in 1973, he was called to the Bar of England & Wales by the Middle Temple (Blackstone Entrance Exhibitioner), in 1974, and to the Bar of Hong Kong, in 1981. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1990, becoming Senior Counsel in 1997. He is the Vice Chairman (Senate) of the International Association of Prosecutors, and chairs its Standing Committee on Prosecutors in Difficulty. He is (Honorary) Visiting Professor of Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Honorary Professor of Law, The University of Hong Kong, and Visiting Professor of Law, The Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Wuhan. He is the Sentencing Editor of Archbold Hong Kong (Sweet & Maxwell) and of Hong Kong Cases (LexisNexis), and the Co-author of Sentencing in Hong Kong (LexisNexis). He is the Patron of Against Child Abuse, and Honorary Consultant to the Child Protection Institute. In 2010, he was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star, for services to the legal system, and, in 2021, the Gold Bauhinia Star, for services to the community.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
