Law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been working, teaching, and researching in the field of aviation law and policy since 2004 and is an internationally renowned expert in aviation law. His main research and teaching interests are aviation law and competition law.<\/p><p>Prof. Lee has seven years of legal affairs experience in the airline industry, advising the company on issues relating to airline liability, government regulation and competition law matters. He has acted as legal advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea on aviation law issues and regularly attended the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Legal Committee as a Korean delegate. He is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cuhk.edu.hk\/app\/prof-jae-woon-lee-elected-as-3rd-vice-chairperson-at-the-international-civil-aviation-organization-icao-legal-committee-39th-session\/\">the 3rd Vice-Chairperson of the ICAO Legal Committee<\/a> (2024-2028) and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cuhk.edu.hk\/app\/prof-jae-woon-lee-elected-as-the-chairperson-of-the-legal-commission-at-the-42nd-session-of-the-international-civil-aviation-organisation-icao-assembly\/\">the Chairperson of the Legal Commission<\/a> at the 42nd ICAO Assembly (2025).<\/p><p>Prof. Lee has published on various aviation legal issues in major air law journals and other leading journals of public international law, trade law, company law, and competition law, including <em>Journal of International Economic Law, Leiden Journal of International Law, Journal of World Trade, European Business Organization Law Review, <\/em>and <em>Journal of Antitrust Enforcement<\/em>. He has also published in top-tier aviation journals such as\u00a0<em>Journal of Air Transport Management\u00a0<\/em>and <em>Transport Policy. <\/em>Prof. Lee serves on the editorial board of the Annals of Air and Space Law. He has received funding from the General Research Fund (GRF), Research Grants Council for his research, on <a href=\"https:\/\/cerg1.ugc.edu.hk\/cergprod\/scrrm00542.jsp?proj_id=14610021&amp;old_proj_id=null&amp;proj_title=&amp;isname=&amp;ioname=&amp;institution=CUHK&amp;subject=&amp;pages=3&amp;year=2021&amp;theSubmit=14610021\">state ownership of airlines <\/a>(2022-2024) and <a href=\"https:\/\/cerg1.ugc.edu.hk\/cergprod\/scrrm00542.jsp?proj_id=14600326&amp;old_proj_id=null&amp;proj_title=&amp;isname=lee&amp;ioname=&amp;institution=&amp;subject=&amp;pages=1&amp;year=2026&amp;theSubmit=14600326\">air services agreements <\/a>(2027-2029).<\/p><p>Prof. Lee has served as a consultant\/expert to government and international agencies, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, International Air Transport Association, and the Hong Kong Competition Commission.
