On 12 May 2026, CUHK LAW hosted the 17th Sir T L Yang Society High Table Dinner, bringing together more than 200 Distinguished Professional Mentors, LLB student mentees, and faculty members for an evening of celebration and connection.

As an annual tradition, the High Table Dinner marks the commencement of the Distinguished Professional Mentors (DPM) programme for our first-year LLB students, marking the beginning of a meaningful three-year journey of guidance, support and professional development.

The evening also celebrated a significant milestone for our final-year LLB student mentees, as we bid farewell to the graduating class and extended our best wishes for their future endeavours.

Prof. Chao Xi, Dean of CUHK LAW, delivered the opening address, expressing his sincere gratitude to all DPMs for their time, guidance, and encouragement, which have helped our students develop confidence, navigate challenges with resilience, and cultivate a deep sense of professional purpose.

We were greatly honoured to have Mr Benjamin Yu, SBS, SC, JP, as our Guest of Honour. In his address, titled “How to choose wisely?”, he shared valuable insights into professional integrity and the ethical responsibilities of advocates, encouraging students to approach every professional decision with careful reflection.

Prof. Queenie Lai, Secretary of The Sir T L Yang Society, highlighted that the DPM programme has evolved over the past decade into a cornerstone of our students’ professional development, fostering enduring relationships that extend well beyond the classroom. She encouraged students to make full use of this unique opportunity and to be proactive in seeking guidance.

During the dinner, we also presented the CUHK LAW Admission Scholarships to students who achieved outstanding results in university entrance examinations, as well as the Dean’s List, honouring students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in their studies.
