The 95th Congregation and the Doctoral and Master’s Degrees Graduation Ceremony 2024-2025 – Faculty of Law Session

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held its 95th Congregation for the Presentation of Doctoral, Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees on 6 November 2025.

In his address, Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, remarked: “It is my great honour and pleasure to deliver my first Congregation address as the ninth Vice-Chancellor and President of the University. Together, we stand at a juncture of brimming with opportunities and hope. I have witnessed firsthand how groundbreaking solutions often emerge when we dare to view the world from a different perspective. Be open to novel ideas, and have the courage to transform your visionary thoughts into realities that bring positive change to the world.

On 8 November 2025, CUHK LAW hosted its Doctoral and Master’s Degrees Graduation Ceremony 2024-2025, presided over by Professor Lo. CUHK LAW was honoured to welcome The Honourable Paul Lam Ting-kwok, GBS, SC, JP, Secretary for Justice of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, as Guest of Honour.

Professor Lo commended the graduates for their resilience and achievements, and celebrated CUHK LAW’s ascent as a global leader in legal education. He also highlighted the Faculty’s innovative strides, including the launch of a pioneering Master’s programme in AI Law and strategic partnerships with leading tech enterprises, initiatives that reflect CUHK LAW’s commitment to embracing technological advancement in legal education.

Mr Lam congratulated CUHK LAW on its remarkable achievement – as the youngest law school in Hong Kong, it has swiftly risen to become one of the world’s leading law schools, enjoying a strong reputation for its excellence in legal education and research. He further emphasised the indispensable role of legal education in upholding the rule of law, and called upon graduates to embrace their role in safeguarding Hong Kong’s legal legacy:

You are the torchbearers of our legal heritage. It is your responsibility to uphold the values of justice, fairness, equality, openness, and tolerance that define our legal system.

He affirmed that the legal profession is not merely a career, but a calling that demands a lifelong commitment to justice and the advancement of society.
