Yuping Lin serves as the Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her J.S.D. and LL.M. from Yale Law School and her LL.B. and LL.M. from Peking University. She is affiliated with the Yale Law School Information Society Project and was previously a Fellow at the Paul Tsai China Center. She also served as an Articles Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law and the Yale Journal of Law & Technology.

Her research lies at the intersection of technology law, administrative law, and political economy. She examines the evolving relationship between states and digital platforms, especially the interaction between public authority and private technological infrastructure. Her work argues that governments increasingly rely on platforms to perform public functions, while platforms simultaneously reshape state institutions and governance priorities. This reciprocal process blurs the boundary between the public and private spheres and transforms contemporary political economy. Drawing on comparative analysis of the United States and China, her research demonstrates that both capitalist and socialist systems are converging toward a structurally similar mode of governance in which digital platforms serve as essential social infrastructure and states increasingly operate through, rather than simply regulate, digital intermediaries.
