Karen Lee Kar Lun is a Professional Consultant at the Faculty of Law of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a Hong Kong-qualified solicitor, a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA Australia), a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors and an Accredited General Mediator (HKMAAL).

Karen brings more than 25 years of experience in legal practice, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and the insurance industry across the Asia-Pacific region. Her career has encompassed private practice, senior legal leadership, executive management, and board service. Prior to joining CUHK LAW, she served as Chief Executive Officer (Hong Kong) and Asia Pacific Regional General Counsel of a Fortune 500 US insurance company, where she advised on complex legal, regulatory, governance, risk management, cross-border transactions, and dispute resolution matters. She worked extensively with insurance regulators across Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, and other regional jurisdictions on regulatory engagement, compliance frameworks, and industry policy initiatives.

Her areas of expertise include insurance law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, and board oversight. Karen has also served in leadership and council roles with professional and industry bodies, including the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers and the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Hong Kong. She is committed to bridging legal scholarship and professional practice and supporting the development of future legal practitioners and leaders.
