This seminar is designed for students who wish to pursue a legal career in Mainland China, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the in-house legal landscape within some of China’s most dynamic industries. Three senior in-house counsels from Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen — Mr. Jiangzhou FU, Ms. Weiyan LIN, and Ms. Lan CHEN — are invited to share their experience and provide practical advice and strategies for starting and building a legal career in Mainland China’s first-tier cities. They will introduce the role of in-house counsels in China’s medium-sized private companies and large foreign companies, discuss their personal working experience and responsibilities, and provide suggestions on shaping a professional journey.

About the Speakers:

Mr. Jiangzhou FU, General Counsel, Aesthetic Medical International Holdings Group Limited

Mr. Fu is the General Counsel of Aesthetic Medical International Holdings Group Limited, a listed company known as Peng’ai Group (鹏爱集团) based in Shenzhen. Peng’ai Group operates 10 medical aesthetics hospitals and clinics in major cities in China. Previously, Mr. Fu was a corporate lawyer specializing in cross-border M&A at King & Wood Mallesons (Shenzhen) and also worked at MGI Tech Co., Ltd., a member of the BGI Group. Mr. Fu obtained his bachelor’s degree in Finance from Fordham University and his J.D. degree from The Ohio State University. Mr. Fu is a New York attorney and holds PRC Legal Professional Qualification Certificate. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Ms. Weiyan LIN, Head of Project Legal Department, VNET Group

Ms. Lin is the head of Project Legal Department of VNET Group (世纪互联), a NASDAQ-listed leading carrier- and cloud-neutral internet data center services provider in China. Ms. Lin started her career at Shearman & Sterling LLP (now A&O Shearman) and joined Fangda Partners afterwards, specializing in cross-border M&A, venture capital investments, and general corporate matters. Ms. Lin obtained her LLB from the University of Macau and her master’s degree in law from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Ms. Lin holds a PRC Legal Professional Qualification Certificate.

Ms Lan CHEN, Legal Counsel, Danaher Corporation

Ms. Chen is a Legal Counsel at Danaher Corporation (丹纳赫), a Fortune 500 U.S. company known for its innovations in global life sciences and diagnostics. Previously, she practiced law in Hong Kong and Shenzhen offices of a red-circle law firm, specializing in cross-border M&A with additional experience in dispute resolution. Ms. Chen is a registered attorney in New York. She holds an LLB from China Foreign Affairs University and an LLM from NYU School of Law.
