Faculty Online Seminar – “Policy and Legal Environment for New Energy Market in China: A Critical Analysis” by Ms. CHEN Zhen

About the speaker:
Ms. CHEN Zhen is the founding partner of Sunshine Law Firm, a PRC law firm with extensive experience providing energy, environment, and infrastructure-related legal services in China and abroad. In addition to her primary role as a partner, she is also the Vice President of Energy Law Institute of China Law Society, and the Deputy Director of Renewable Energy Professional Committee of China Energy Research Society. Ms. Chen has extensive experiences in her areas of expertise and has conducted some forward-looking and pioneering research on legal services in the field of new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection. Being the leading practitioner in the relevant fields, she is one of the very first legal practitioners to initiate professional legal services in a range of projects. In 2004, she initiated the legal services to support development of CDM projects. In 2005, she began to provide legal services to clean energy projects such as nuclear and wind. In 2006, she started to advise clients on BOT (build-operate-transfer) projects in relation to power plant desulfurization. In 2010, she began to advise clients on projects including energy management contracting (EMC). In 2013, she initiated the LTC (law-technology-capital) collaborative innovation project for clean water, blue sky and new town construction. Ms. Chen has been at the forefront of legal services in the areas of energy and environmental law. She has also been actively promoting legal services for environmental management through contracts, applications of energy-saving technology, distributed power generation, and emissions trading. Because of her extensive experiences, she has been consistently ranked by Chambers and Partners as a Senior Statespeople/Eminent Practitioner in the areas of Energy & Natural Resources, Environment, and Corporate Commercial (East Coast).

The seminar will be conducted in Putonghua.
