The 14th Annual Intellectual Property Conference- ‘Digital Innovations and Intangible Assets’ (Online)

The 14th Annual Intellectual Property Conference and the pre-conference workshop co-organized by CUHK LAW, United States-China Intellectual Property Institute (USCIPI) and Asia Innovation and IP Society (AIIPS) were successfully held online on 28-30 July 2022. Having attracted over 350 attendees, the conference and workshop served as a hub to discuss and reflect intellectual property (IP) issues surrounding NFTs and the Metaverse, vaccines and biomedical treatment, celebrity rights, digital innovation, trade secret protection, capital market, digitalized litigation and IP practice updates. Speakers included esteemed scholars and practitioners from Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States. CUHK LAW Professors Steven Gallagher, Jyh-An Lee and Bryan Mercurio and PhD student Ms. Jingwen Liu spoke respectively on NFT art and its governance, the trade-off between explainable AI and trade secret, negotiations for a TRIPS waiver for Covid-19 vaccines and treatment, and the empirical landscape of trade secret enforcement in China. Other speakers and moderators from the Faculty include Dean Lutz-Christian Wolff, Professor Queenie Lai and Professor Eliza Mik.
