Posted on 7 September, 2018

A team of CUHK Law students achieved excellent results in the 2018 Asia Cup Moot held on 28-29 August 2018 in Tokyo, which was co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Japanese Society of International Law.

The CUHK Law team consisted of Cherry Ma (PCLL), Michael Leung (LLB) and Kevin Yeung (LLB) as the oralists, supported by teammates Sherman Ho (LLB), Ellie Tse (LLB) and Giselle Tam (LLB).

Over 60 teams from different universities in Asia submitted memorials for the competition. The CUHK Law team was ranked 9th among the 15 qualifying teams in the Oral Rounds. All the oralists in the CUHK Law team secured a top-10 ranking. For Best Oralist, Michael Leung was awarded 2nd place, Cherry Ma 4th place and Kevin Yeung 10th place. The team finished the competition in 6th place in the overall ranking.

This is CUHK’s first ever participation in the Asia Cup Moot, a moot on public international law simulating proceedings in the International Court of Justice. This year’s competition involved issues of armed aggression and interdiction on the high seas.

Congratulations to the team for their achievements!
