CUHK LAW LLB graduate and PCLL student Perry WONG has been honoured as the Regional Winner in the Law Category of The Global Undergraduate Awards 2025 Programme.

Perry’s award-winning paper, titled “Why Large Language Models Cannot Replace Human Lawyers, Particularly in the Context of Hong Kong”, critically examines the limitations of Large Language Models (LLMs) in replacing human lawyers, addressing their comprehension abilities and the implications of AI hallucinations. It highlights specific challenges in Hong Kong, including slow AI adoption and linguistic diversity. Citing Amara’s Law, Perry cautions against hasty predictions about LLMs, advocating for a future where they enhance rather than replace human lawyering.

The Global Undergraduate Awards is an international academic awards programme that celebrates originality, innovation, and excellence at the undergraduate level. It is open to undergraduate students from universities, colleges, and institutes around the world. Submissions are assessed by a panel of international academics, ensuring a fair and rigorous evaluation process.
